M.W.Bro. Dexter D. Koons, P.G.M.
He was born on May 25, 1941 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His father was a pilot for Northwest Airlines. He graduated from Richfield (Minn) High School in 1958. His father left the airline, and took a job with the Aviation Products Division of B. F. Goodrich, and the family moved to Akron, Ohio in 1959. He graduated from Kent State University in 1962, and entered the Ohio State University College of Medicine, graduating in 1966. He served one year as a surgical intern at the Cleveland Clinic from 1966-67, and one year as a surgical resident from 1967-68.
In 1968, he was called to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps. He returned to the Cleveland Clinic in 1970, and entered the neurosurgery residency program, finishing in 1974. He practiced for two years in Corpus Christi, Texas, and then moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where he practiced until1987.
In 1987, he moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where he is still in practice. He was initiated into South Pueblo Lodge # 31 on November 29, 1990, passed on February 14, 1991, and raised on April11, 1991. He was Master of South Pueblo Lodge# 31 in 1995. He is a past EHP of South Pueblo Chapter# 12, RAM, past TIM of Pueblo Council# 6, and past Commander of Pueblo Commandry # 3. He is a past Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons of Colorado, past Governor of Southern Colorado York Rite College# 109, and it's current Secretary. He is a 32"d degree KCCH member of the Southern Colorado Consistory, a member of AI Kaly Shrine, the Royal Order of Scotland, Kincora Council# 8, Knight Masons, past Puissant Sovereign of the Sangre De Christo Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine, current Preceptor of Magi Tabernacle LXIII Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests, and past Prior of Pikes Peak Priory# 21, KYCH.
He has been married to Marie for 30 years, and they have 5 children, and 7 grandchildren.
